Floorball New Zealand (FNZ) has recognised the needs to start our preparations for qualifying tournaments much earlier than we have in the past. In previous years a lot of pressure has been applied to the coach and the team managers of our national teams in terms not only selecting and training teams but also raising funds and planning the participation in events. We also recognise that continuity is important for team development. This is obvious when you look to other sports codes where often implemented changes to team leadership has resulted in disharmony and lackluster results.
FNZ is excited to announce the reappointment of Jane Bertschinger as the Head Coach for the NZ Women's U19 Floorball Team for the 2020 Women's U19 WFC campaign. Jane took on the role in 2017 and led the women's U19 team as they played in the Women's U19 WFC finals in Switzerland in May 2018. The team did New Zealand proud at the tournament finishing with a world ranking of 15th (one placing behind Australia) and winning their final game against the USA was a great achievement.
FNZ is equally excited to announce the reappointment of Pavol Nekl to the position of Head Coach for the NZ Men's Floorball Team for the 2020 Men's WFC campaign. Pavol took on the role in 2017 and led the men's team as they played their qualifying tournament in Korea early in 2018. The team did not manage to gain a spot for the 2018 Men's WFC however they did New Zealand proud at the qualifying tournament.
The FNZ Board strongly believes that future campaigns will be fruitful as the player pool in New Zealand increases and continuity in leadership is fostered. Floorball New Zealand want to congratulate Jane and Pavol on their re-appointment and look forward to working with them over the coming years.
