Final Men's U19 national team named for AOFC Qualification

Floorball New Zealand is pleased to announce the final Men's Under-19 squad selected to represent Aotearoa New Zealand at the AOFC Qualification tournament for the Men's Under-19 World Floorball Championships 2027.

The announcement follows five weeks of training and assessment after the national training squad was named in April this year. Throughout the selection period, athletes demonstrated their commitment and determination as they competed for a place in the final team.

Head Coach Ken Takizawa said naming the final squad was a challenging process due to the quality and depth of talent within the training group.

"The athletes have shown outstanding dedication throughout the selection campaign. The effort and growth over the past five weeks made for some difficult decisions. We are excited about the group we have selected and believe they have the potential to represent New Zealand with pride on the international stage."

Floorball New Zealand extends its congratulations to all selected athletes and acknowledges the hard work of every player involved in the training squad. The standard displayed throughout the selection process highlights the bright future of the sport and the emerging talent within New Zealand's floorball community.

The team will now shift its focus to preparations for the AOFC Qualification Tournament, which will be held in Singapore from 4–9 August. New Zealand will compete against Australia, Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore for one of three qualification places available for the Men's Under-19 World Floorball Championships 2027.

"Being named in the team is a significant achievement, but it is only one step in the journey," said Takizawa.

"The players have earned the opportunity to wear the black jersey, but representing New Zealand comes with responsibility. The expectations around training, preparation, teamwork and professionalism increase from this point forward. Our focus now shifts from selection to performance."
