3v3 World Floorball Cup + Autonomous Teams
It is a busy time for Floorball in New Zealand!
Among all of this Floorball New Zealand has been invited to join in the third edition of the 3v3 World Floorball Cup for both men and women to be held in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Spain, from 12th – 14th June 2026. Full details of the tournament are available here.
New Zealand has performed well at the last two editions of the tournament placing 6th in the inaugural 2024 3v3 WFC so we will look to continue this strong performance in the 3v3 category going forward!
This year we are introducing a new Autonomous Teams structure which aims to give teams a good deal of freedom while minimising administrative burden on FNZ. This structure will also be used for other "non-core" international opportunities where a New Zealand representative team participates.
As noted in the policy, expressions of interest for teams are expected to be made as a group with a manager stated. In the 3v3 tournament, regular IFF competition regulations including for national eligibility and anti-doping rules also apply.
We are now welcoming expressions of interest for men's and/or a women's teams to represent New Zealand in the 2026 3v3 WFC by email to national-teams@floorball.org.nz by 10 January 2026.
Feel free to forward this email to your club members - team registrations do not need to be connected to a club. Individuals who are keen to participate can register interest with national-teams@floorball.org.nz and copy in contact@floorball.org.nz. If a group does not come forward we may link up individuals but a manager independent of FNZ will still be required.
If you become aware of a tournament that Floorball New Zealand may wish to enter an Autonomous Team in please get in touch.
We encourage everyone to check out the Autonomous Teams policy in the policy section of our website and contact us with any questions.
