The New Zealand Men’s National Floorball Team has proudly represented Aotearoa on the world stage, delivering an impressive performance at the recent 2026 Men’s 3v3 World Floorball Championships held in Switzerland this May.
The team recorded notable wins, defeating Hungary 7–5, Colombia’s debut team 18–0, and Iceland 8–7.
They narrowly fell to Italy 4–7 in the group stage and battled hard in the final playoff, losing by the slimmest of margins 2–3 to France.
Their efforts have secured New Zealand’s position at 10th in the world in the official 3v3 rankings.
This year’s campaign was unique, as the Kiwi squad was made up of New Zealanders living and travelling in Europe, all of whom self-funded their journey to compete against some of the best floorball nations.
The New Zealand Men’s 3v3 National Team was represented by Matthew Bertschinger, Archie Cosslett, Samuel Elkin, Tim McKibbin, Andreas Ming, Tomas Stein and Jimmy Yang.
Their dedication and passion for the sport was evident throughout the tournament, as they went head-to-head with highly ranked opponents and delivered strong, competitive performances.
Our team of off-shore Kiwis are already eyeing the next Men’s 3v3 World Floorball Championships in 2027, with the goal of climbing higher in the global rankings and further raising New Zealand’s profile in the international floorball community.
