Seeking Head Coach for the New Zealand Men’s U19 National Floorball Team
About the role
We’re inviting applications for the role of Head Coach of the New Zealand Men’s Under-19 National Floorball Team.
The team will compete in the Men’s U19 World Floorball Championships AOFC (Asia–Oceania Floorball Confederation) Qualification tournament, expected to take place around September 2026. The tournament date and location are yet to be confirmed, and New Zealand will compete against other countries from the Asia–Oceania region.
The New Zealand team will need to place in the top two at the AOFC Qualification tournament to qualify for the Men’s Under-19 World Floorball Championships in February 2027, which will most likely be in Europe.
This campaign is an important part of our plan to strengthen and grow New Zealand’s national floorball programme. The Under-19 team plays a key role in developing players for the senior men’s team.
We’re seeking an experienced and passionate coach to lead the team through the AOFC Qualification campaign, from the time of appointment through to the qualification tournament, and if successful, through to the Men’s U19 World Floorball Championships in February 2027.
As Head Coach, you will lead selection, train and coach the team, and work with your management team to deliver a high-quality campaign programme.
Key responsibilities
Lead player selection, training, and coaching for the AOFC Qualification campaign and, if successful, the Men’s U19 World Floorball Championships.
Design and deliver a structured training and competition programme that prepares our young athletes to perform at their best on the international stage.
Plan and run development-focused training weekends, with emphasis on individual skill progression, tactical understanding, and team cohesion.
Foster a growth-oriented team culture built on respect, discipline, and accountability, where athletes are supported to take ownership of their performance.
Collaborate with Floorball New Zealand, assistant coaches, and support staff to align coaching methods with national development goals and ensure clear pathways for players transitioning to senior levels.
Lead performance planning and review processes, including athlete feedback, data-informed analysis, and communication with parents or clubs as appropriate.
Represent Floorball New Zealand and the national team with integrity and pride.
What we’re looking for
The successful candidate will:
Demonstrate strong leadership and the ability to inspire, develop, and motivate young athletes within a performance pathway environment.
Apply sound technical knowledge, tactical awareness, and coaching experience to build competitive advantage and consistency of performance.
Create and sustain an inclusive and positive team environment that values respect, resilience, and continuous improvement.
Lead with professionalism, integrity, and clear communication, showing the ability to plan effectively and adapt under pressure.
Work collaboratively with other coaches, support staff, and Floorball New Zealand to ensure a unified approach to athlete development and national programme outcomes.
Term of appointment
The Head Coach will lead the campaign from appointment through the 2026 AOFC Qualification and, if successful, the 2027 Men’s U19 World Floorball Championships.
Due to upcoming changes in the international floorball calendar set by the International Floorball Federation (IFF), there will be another Men’s U19 World Floorball Championships in 2028.
We’re open to extending the Head Coach role, by mutual agreement, to include the 2027/28 campaign. Any extension would be confirmed following a review of the 2026/27 campaign.
What we offer
This is a voluntary and unpaid position. However, reasonable expenses, including travel and accommodation, will be covered by Floorball New Zealand.
How to apply
Please include the following in your application:
Cover letter introducing yourself, outlining your relevant qualifications and experience, and describing your vision for the team. (If you plan to bring assistant coaches, please include short profiles for them.)
